Imogen Waibel was born in Edinburgh and has returned there to live and work as an artist and art teacher. She studied Fine Art Drawing & Painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee and graduated with a BA Hons 2:1 in 1998. In 2000 she also obtained an MPhil with distinction in Decorative Arts from the University of Glasgow. In 2004 Imogen also completed a PGCE in Secondary Art and Design at Moray House.

Imogen mainly specialises in oil painting, but also works in graphite pencil and colour pencil. Since graduating, Imogen has concentrated on capturing tiny detail in all of the work she does, creating impressive, large works based on things that are usually overlooked because they are very small in real life or part of a much larger whole. What often stands out in her work is her vivid use of colour. The effect is something like photorealist art, but with a warmer, more personal feeling.
